Create a brand

A brand is the top-level scoring unit inside a workspace. It owns the reference library, signatures, calibration, diagnostics, candidate scorings, and scoring history for one advertiser or creative standard.

Create the brand

Open Brands, then choose Create brand.

Fill in:

  • Brand name: the display name used throughout the app.
  • Slug: the URL-safe identifier. The app suggests one from the brand name, and you can edit it before saving.
  • Brand context: optional but recommended. Add audience, category, offer, positioning, compliance constraints, platform notes, or creative rules that should shape the result narrative.

The preview card shows how the brand will appear in the app. After creation, Cortex opens the brand overview and shows the next steps.

Brand context

Brand context does not replace the reference library. It helps the narrative explain results in the right business language.

Good context:

Premium skincare brand for women 35-55. Primary offer is a consultation.
Avoid exaggerated medical claims. Winning ads usually open with a clear
before/after or expert authority moment, then move quickly into proof.

Weak context:

Make ads perform better.

Keep context practical. Cortex should know what the brand sells, who it is for, what counts as a good creative outcome, and what the narrative should avoid overclaiming.

After creation

A new brand starts in a draft or cold-start state. That is expected. The brand cannot score candidates until it has:

  • At least 3 eligible winner references.
  • At least 3 eligible loser references.
  • A ready signature built from those references.

The brand header and signature status badge show whether the brand is ready to score.

Edit settings

Open the brand settings page to update the name or brand context. Existing scorings keep their historical result data, but future narratives and future signature builds use the latest brand information where applicable.

Archive or delete

Archiving removes the brand from active work without permanently deleting its history. Use archive when a brand is paused but may be revisited.

Deleting a brand is more restrictive and requires admin-level access. Delete only when the brand, references, scorings, and artifacts should no longer be retained.

Roles and write access

Workspace members can create and edit brands when the workspace is writable. Admin-only operations, billing restrictions, expired trials, or inactive subscriptions can prevent writes. If a write action is blocked, resolve workspace access or billing before continuing.
